Frequently asked questions

Booking process

Book a charter yacht with Seaphoria Yachts for an unforgettable luxury adventure. Our simple booking process starts with our enquiry form, which asks about your preferences. Once we know your wishes, we will find the perfect yacht for you and create a tailor-made charter contract. With our support in planning itineraries and organizing events, your yacht charter will be the vacation of your dreams.

For luxury charter yachts, the latest standard contract from MYBA is used to set out the obligations and agreements between charterer and charteree, which is signed by the owner of a superyacht. For yachts under 20m, a standardized contract from the relevant yacht brokers association of the charter destination country is usually used. Once the contract is duly signed, the charter is only confirmed after a deposit of 50% of the charter amount is paid in favor of the chartere. The second installment is due 5 weeks before the charter starts. For crewed luxury yacht charters, a list will be provided to the charterer to inform the crew of your food and beverage preferences. The aim is to find out your likes and dislikes and to prepare some guide itineraries in advance based on personal interests.

The charter contract

After the availability of your selected yacht has been verified, you will be provided with a standardized MYBA charter contract to sign. If your chosen destination requires you to dock or depart from a location other than your yacht's home port, positioning costs (delivery/re-delivery fees) may apply. These fees, if applicable, will be confirmed in advance and recorded in the charter contract along with any applicable taxes.

Payment terms

A deposit of 50 percent of the total charter fee is due upon signing the MYBA charter contract by bank transfer. The remaining 50 percent, plus an advance payment fee and any taxes, delivery/return fees and agreed additional fees, are to be paid by bank transfer no later than five weeks before the start of the charter.

Operating cost

The Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) is payable at the time of final charter payment. According to MYBA terms and conditions, this amount is usually 30 percent of the total charter fee, but in some cases can be as high as 40 percent.

The APA is intended to cover the operating costs of a charter according to the charter terms, such as fuel, food, drinks, port fees and any other unforeseen expenses. The APA will be given to the Captain prior to the start of your charter. The Captain will ensure that the yacht is fully fuelled and provisioned when you come on board. You can request an updated account summary at any time during your charter, but normally the Captain will provide a full account report at the end of the voyage. Should expenses during the charter exceed the amount already paid, additional cash will be required immediately.

All outstanding invoices from the yacht charter should be settled in cash or by bank transfer prior to your final disembarkation. Of course, any remaining balance will be refunded to you in full at the end of your charter. Transfer arrangements to and from the yacht can be arranged by Burgess or the yacht captain upon request, the cost of which will be deducted from your APA.

Travel Details & Personal
Preferences

Several weeks before you check in to your yacht, Seaphoria will ask you to complete a detailed questionnaire outlining the preferences and special needs of everyone in your party. This includes any dietary or medical requirements, details of any allergies, and your sporting or entertainment preferences. This allows Burgess and the crew of your chosen charter yacht to ensure that everything possible is done to make your charter a fabulous experience.

Charter rates

Charter rates are quoted per week for the yacht's rental. Charters over seven days are prorated against the weekly rate divided by seven and multiplied by the number of charter days. Charters of less than seven days usually attract a surcharge calculated as the weekly rate divided by six multiplied by the number of days. Some yachts may require a minimum number of charter days, which can be confirmed by the broker.

High season rates usually apply to the most popular charter periods i.e. July/August and Christmas/New Year and also usually apply to any major events such as the Monaco Grand Prix and Cannes Film Festival. Low season rates apply to all other periods (please note that low and high season periods may differ for specific locations).

Please note that charter prices quoted on the website are considered correct but are subject to change.

Chater Conditions

Most charter prices appearing in this publication are based on MYBA conditions, which means that the yacht will be made available to the charterer fully equipped and with all necessary accessories, properly insured for maritime risks and managed by a crew whose salaries, food and clothing are paid for by the owner.

All other operating costs are the responsibility of the charterer and include (but are not limited to) the following items: fuel and lubricating oils for the yacht and her tenders; local taxes; pilotage fees; port and marina fees; customs clearance; water and electricity; personal laundry; all supplies, wines, beers, spirits, soft drinks and consumables for the charter company; shore excursions, telecommunications and internet costs. Please note that occasionally a yacht may offer a variation to the terms described above. Our brokers will provide full details of any different charter terms when presenting the relevant yachts. While some yachts are legally eligible to charter in the USA, others do not meet American fiscal requirements and are therefore not available for charter in US waters. Please ask for more information on specific yachts.

Crew tip

Gratuities for crew are voluntary, although it is customary for a charterer who has enjoyed the friendly and attentive service of a courteous crew to leave a tip. Gratuities for crew are usually around 10 percent of the charter fee, but can be adjusted based on satisfaction.

The best way to ensure that all crew members receive equal recognition is to let the captain decide how to distribute the tips. This way, those less conspicuous crew members, such as engineers and kitchen staff, who make an important contribution to your enjoyment, won't be overlooked.
